Machine Gun Preacher

Mark, Gabe (my 7 year old) and I were EXTRAS this past Tuesday in a movie being filmed called "Machine Gun Preacher".

How fun is that??

This movie is based on a true story (and a book).  The real Machine Gun Preacher is Sam Childers.  His story/website is here:  http://www.machinegunpreacher.org/

It's an amazing story.

Anyhoo...while we were there, for 12 hours I might add, there was a scene filmed that was a sweet little girl singing "Amazing Grace". I have NEVER heard a child sing the way Rhema did!   The hardest part was to sit there in complete silence (with 200ish other extras, cast and crew) until the director said 'cut'!  God surely did give her a beautiful voice.

Check out her music video here:

Yes, it was an exciting day.....   We had to be on the set at 6:30 a.m. (did I mention I'm not a morning person?).  By 1 p.m. or so, Gabe had decided to take a nap, right before Rhema sang.  My worst fear was that she'd be in the middle of her song and Gabe would wake up...crying or whining about where he was!  Oh my.  That would have been embarassing.  He didn't wake up though...through two 'takes'.  And the assistant director (or 'AD' as they are called) came and sat with us for awhile...asking Gabe how he broke his arm and such.  Everyone on the set was respectful, kind...nothing at all as I imagined a movie set would be.  Not to mention getting my hair and makeup done several times throughout the day!

Very cool :)

So, when MGP comes out next year, look for us!  We'll be in the church congregation where Sam Childers (played by Gerard Butler) gets saved!

Blessings!
~Bethany :)

Hey! Yes...it was a lot of fun! We had initially wanted to sign up all the kids, but I'm really glad that we just took Gabe. It was enough to keep him happy all day...there is so much down time!
We took more pics yesterday at the park. I had an idea to get my portfolio started...I'm going to message all my Facebook friends and take the first 10 responses and do photo shoots on them! Course, they will get a free pic (if they want more, they can pay) and I will have models for my portfolio! Does that sound like a good idea?

I wanted to stop in and let you know, I had to pass this award on to some bloggy friends I thought were fantastic, and I thought of you!

Congrats!

Yes, that sounds like a good idea! I usually will give the photos on a CD to people I do portraits for, and I sign a release for the purpose of making copies. If they want professional quality prints, I will order them for them, but I do make a little on those.

I do use facebook a lot though... gives me great practice. I watch for people to mention milestones or upcoming momentous occasions, and I'll offer to come capture it for them for free. They sign a release letting me use the photos for advertising, I sign over the rights for copies, plus I get practice! It's a win/win!

Are the releases that you sign official-type? Or did you just write it out in pen and paper?
Yeah...I need to branch out on Facebook. I'll try to find you on there later :)
Thank you SO much for thinking of my blog for the award...how fun!
